CITADEL100 announce that they have signed a €6M+Deal with Airtricity to supply Green Electricity to its Next Generation Datacentre

CITADEL100, a member of the Keppel Group , and one of Europe’s leading and most innovative Datacenter owner and operators specialising in designing, developing and operating 100% availability Next Generation Datacenters, today announced that they have signed a €6M+Deal with Airtricity to supply Green Electricity to its Next Generation Datacentre.

Airtricity, Ireland’s leading renewable energy company, has signed the new contract with CITADEL100 worth in excess of €6 million. Under the terms of the contract Airtricity will supply green electricity to CITADEL100’s 60,000 Sq. Ft. Datacentre located in Citywest Business Park Dublin.

As energy consumption in Datacenters is predicted to more than double within the next 5 years resulting in increasing carbon emissions and associated costs, CITADEL100 has switched to Airtricity to minimise its carbon footprint and lower operating costs.

By switching to Airtricity, CITADEL100 will save the release of almost 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum – equivalent of taking 5,500 cars off our roads.

Commenting on the deal Noel Meaney, Chairman of, CITADEL100 said, "Energy management is a crucial sustainability issue for business. Energy consumption, particularly energy use is a key consideration for our business. Given the nature of our operations we consume a large amount and as such are conscious of our carbon emissions. It was an obvious move to opt for Airtricity given their green credentials but it also offers competitive business rates allowing us to pass those savings onto our customers."

"Irish businesses are increasingly more aware and conscious of their responsibility to the environment," said Airtricity Supply. "A number of organizations are implementing environmental or green programmes looking at operational areas where savings can be made on their carbon footprint. Currently 45,000 customers in Ireland choose Airtricity as their electricity provider."
