Mike Manos, the data center world's answer to Security's Bruce Schneier, has been doing his stuff now for a couple of months at Nokia. Techtarget interviewed him, asking him about what he sees as the biggest game changers in the industry.

The biggest game changer, according to him, is going to be climate change regulations, specifically the ones that are going to be implemented in the US. This is what he says:

"I call it CO2K. In Y2K, people talked about it for years ahead of time and made major investments in audits and investigating exposure. When
you look at the timeline for the legislation coming through, it's a
year or two away from the U.S. and it's already in Europe. There is no
significant attention being brought to this. So when these measures
pass, there will be a huge reactionary force put to bear. With a little
foresight and technology application, we can address this proactively
instead of reactively."

To be honest, the interview is not very focused, swerving from containerised data centers (which is a bit like asking Steve Jobs what he thinks about Apple) to his coined term CO2K and monitoring tools. B
