First of all, let me express my absolute astonishment on the match of today. Holland played so-so in the first half, but what a second half. I am not a chauvinist, but it was a thrilling match and a great result. So good actually, that the Dutch actually proved again that the Twitter data centers are far from reliable enough. I haven't seen so many fail whales in quite some time. What will happen if China starts to play football well???

But I digress. All I wanted to do was point to this very interesting article on Computerworld about the IT tricks used by the Russian spy ring that has been busted this week. One of the things that did them in was a written down password on a piece of post-it. You can make a password as complicated as you want (this one was 27 characters long, and needed to be typed while holding ctrl+alt), if it's written down it is cracked.

And come on guys... invisible ink? Is that stuff for real?

This particular passage caught my attention:

The spy ring had numerous technical problems, including file transfers that hung and wouldn't go through and difficulty replacing laptops when
necessary. In one case, an agent was so frustrated by laptop issues
that she unwittingly turned it over to an undercover FBI agent.

Wow, user rage that does an intelligence service in. So I have to say people: the real James Bond here is IT. Bad IT? caught spies. It is as simple as that. But at least one thing about female Russian spies appears to be true...
