Linux: An evolving trend that is high on demand

Earlier, Linux was a thing for tech geeks that used to admire working on the operating system and speak of its ingenious advantages. In the current era, where more user-friendly technologies are initiated, Linux remained as a slot for the tech fanatic. Now the scenario has changed and Linux is outgrowing its reaches to bridge the gap between their domain and the digital world.

Evolution of the technology took the platform to an advanced level, but there are aspects that make Linux even more popular than it was previously. Noted below are key points that state why Linux is so high on demand.

Linux Virtual Private Server on the rise

Linux is no longer the stereotyped conventional operational system that was making its way through PC adoption. Not to forget it’s been a potential player in the server room, as the administrators are using the operating system for virtual applications and web server. Besides, it is turning up on the front end as well by collaborating with the android, which has made its place in many of the smartphones.

In addition, Linux is showing up in the cloud environment too, as most big players in the market such as Microsoft and Google are delivering Linux-based cloud services in order to facilitate the development of virtual machine instances.

When we discuss the advancement of Linux, well then several companies along with developers are playing their part in bringing up the technology, especially desktop, the area where Linux strived hard to excel. Stack Overflow conducted a survey of more than 50,000 developers that stated that nearly 21.7% choose Linux, in particular to develop on the LAMP stack. In spite of the fact that 50% of developers use the same, the rate is steadily depleting, making the competition effortless for Linux.

Linux – The developing trend

Overall, Linux is like the clay material. It can be mended, molded, and designed into any shape the user wants to, which means it could be taken from a minor embedded device to large parallel machines. End users have experienced the OS differently and so has the market entrepreneurs. It led Google to build Chromebooks and Android, Canonical to develop Ubuntu and a lot more. Although it is up to the consumers to choose the one that fits their need, the point is they have multiple choices.

The ability to synchronize with another application is building a path for Linux to shine in the spheres of Internet of Things. Open source component can be modified whenever the demand for new devices or functions arises, which can further drive interoperability.

Despite of all the strong sources Linux acquire, one of the possible downside is its fragile security. Though it is known for being highly secure, it has gained the reputation due to lower adoption. However, as the adoption rate is increasing steadily, it will attract criminals and weak security can lead to severe consequences.

However, Linux is going great and it needs to upkeep the tempo if the technology wants to mark its position in the future. Attempts are made by organizations to fill the gaps of competence in order to bring more out of it and that’s a good sign.
